Food Safety

Tasty and authentic food is great, but eating safe food is paramount! The federal and local governments in your area provide guidance on how food is to be handled, processed, stored and sold in order to minimize food-borne illness.

Sellers

  • In order to sell food on auntieChef.com, you must have all the required licenses and follow all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Check our terms of use, policies and seller's guide for more information. Failure to comply with applicable laws and/or with the auntieChef terms of use will be grounds for us to suspend your kitchen.
  • You can find information on federal food safety guidelines on http://www.fsis.usda.gov/home/index.asp and http://www.fda.gov/food/default.htm
  • Contact your local health department for specific laws and regulations in your community.

Buyers

  • Stay aware of known food recalls. For more information check out http://foodSafety.gov
  • If you have questions or concerns about the food provided by a specific kitchen on auntieChef.com, use the "Questions for the Cook" page of the appropriate kitchen to communicate with the seller.
  • Make sure you understand how the seller is licensed, what ingredients they use and anything that might impact your health or the health of those who will consume the food you buy.
  • If you believe there's a problem with the food offered by a certain kitchen, please contact your local public health officials. Also, please let us know immediately by clicking "report this page" at the bottom of each kitchen page. Note: This is not an alternative to reporting the kitchen to the authorities.

  • Our terms of use and privacy policy allow us to share personal and contact information of sellers with government agencies to protect the rights and safety of the auntieChef community.
